A South Shields social enterprise which has transformed lives through its community cafés is continuing its expansion, with Sea Change CIC preparing to open a fourth venue.
The organisation, which first opened on Ocean Road in South Shields in 2019, has announced it will be adding another café to its growing portfolio.
The new site follows the success of its original South Shields café and two further venues in Sunderland, marking another milestone for the community interest company.
Founded to create opportunities for people who face barriers to employment, Sea Change CIC is much more than a café business. The organisation provides training, volunteering and supported employment, helping people build confidence, develop new skills and gain valuable work experience in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Its cafés have become popular community hubs, serving quality food and drink while offering a safe space where people can meet, connect and feel supported. Through its work, Sea Change CIC aims to tackle social isolation, improve wellbeing and create lasting opportunities for local people.
The fourth venue will allow the organisation to extend its reach even further, creating additional jobs and volunteering opportunities while continuing the community-first approach that has made its existing cafés such a success.
