The passion, kindness and strong community spirit that make the Borough such a special place have been celebrated at the #Love South Tyneside Awards 2026.

Held at The Customs House on Thursday 4 June, the annual awards recognise the Borough’s everyday heroes — highlighting those who go the extra mile to support others, bring communities together and inspire local pride.

Hosted by Ray Spencer MBE, the evening honoured a wide range of individuals and organisations making a meaningful difference across South Tyneside.

The Deputy Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Alan Rice said: “Congratulations to all of this year’s winners, runners-up and nominees. These awards are a powerful reminder of the incredible people who make South Tyneside such a special place to live and work.

“Across our Borough, individuals and organisations are giving their time, supporting others and bringing communities together. It’s only right that we recognise and celebrate the difference they make.”

Since launching in 2019, the #Love South Tyneside Awards have showcased the remarkable talent, generosity and dedication found across the Borough — from young volunteers and grassroots groups to businesses and inspiring individuals.

The event, compered by Ray Spencer MBE, was made possible thanks to the continued support of local sponsors, with Groundwork’s Jarrow Hall once again serving as lead sponsor.
