Bullseye Darts Academy celebrates nine England JDC qualifiers

Nine talented young players from Bullseye Darts Academy in South Shields are preparing to compete for a place on the England JDC pathway after qualifying for the first round of the tournament.

The academy in Fowler Street, which has been open for just over a year, has seen its hard work rewarded with an impressive nine players reaching the England JDC qualifier, where they will compete against some of the country’s best young darts talent.

The first stage of the competition takes place in Bristol on July 3, with the academy’s players aiming to secure a place in the second round. Those who progress will travel to Milton Keynes on October 31, where the top six players will earn the chance to represent the UK B Team at the Gibraltar Nations event.

The nine players competing are:

Oliver Bowman

Cameron Talbot-Browne

Max Harrison

Mason Liddle

Lucas Mclackland

John-James Oliver

Riley Collinson

Jack Payn

The academy was set up by husband and wife duo, Ali and Leslie Sezer to provide young people with a positive outlet after seeing the growing popularity of darts and the interest generated through the their darts shop.

Ali said: “We are proud of all our students’ achievements. The JDC players have worked so hard to earn their place in the finals and the opportunity to represent the UK. We are behind them 100% and are amazed at all they have accomplished.

“We never in a million years thought we would achieve such an honour. When students come to our academy, we do everything we can to help them grow, improve and achieve their best, and that hard work has paid off.

“I couldn’t be prouder of every one of them. They have all shown incredible dedication and commitment, and I’m excited to watch them compete. I genuinely believe they have the talent and determination to go all the way and achieve something special.”

The darts academy provides a place for youngsters aged 8-18 to pursue an opportunity in the sport and make friends.

The academy’s success in such a short space of time highlights the dedication of both its coaches and players, with the youngsters now hoping to make the next step on their journey towards representing their country on the international stage.
